Data quality at a glance with the Metaplane Chrome Extension

Business stakeholders rely on fresh, reliable data in their dashboards to make decisions. And while tools like Metaplane help you be the first to know of data issues, stakeholders don’t want to check multiple tools. This usually means your stakeholders either:

  1. Inherently trust the data in their dashboards (even when it’s wrong)

Or, worse:

  1. They spot a problem, ping the data team, and wonder why the data team didn’t alert them about it in the first place

In either situation, trust is lost in both the data and the data team.

Context for everyone, when and where they need it

Until now, stakeholders were in the dark about the quality of their data as they were using it. That’s why we created the first-ever data observability Chrome extension: to prevent erosion of trust by making context available where and when it’s needed.

The Metaplane Chrome Extension helps you understand data quality at a glance, including:

  1. Upstream incidents: The number of data quality incidents, if any, on the upstream tables powering your dashboard
  2. Upstream freshness: How fresh your upstream data is
  3. Lineage: How your data flows through your data stack prior to reaching your dashboard, including a summary of your end-to-end lineage
  4. Data in Snowflake: The status of the tables when using the Snowflake web console

All your stakeholders can be added as users in Metaplane itself to self-serve using the Chrome extension. Once it’s installed and they’re added as users, they’ll start seeing a summary of the metrics you monitor in Metaplane in the Chrome extension side panel.

It’s easier than ever for stakeholders to see just how trustworthy the data is in a simplified, actionable view.

This way, your stakeholders – who were once in the dark – know:

  1. When data has quality issues
  2. That your team is on top of it, with quality checks in place.

From the side panel, you can click directly into Metaplane to make your triaging process even faster. Metaplane’s Chrome extension gives your stakeholders a data quality overview, and you get the details you need on demand. Win-win.

All your monitored metrics – compatible and secure

The Chrome extension integrates with the most popular business intelligence tool as well as the Snowflake console. And there’s even more to come based on customer requests!

It also works in all Chromium-based web browsers, including Google Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Arc, and more.

Like all of our integrations and features, the Metaplane Chrome extension is built with security at the forefront. The only information it ever accesses is the page name and URL, so it’s an easy sell with your security team.
